This last week I have started having small headaches again. I have to</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
be really careful, because they can quickly go into a full blown</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
migraine. Mine get very bad. So I have to take meds then slow down</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
to make sure that doesn't happen.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sunday, my husband and I celebrated our 23rd anniversary. We went out</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
to dinner on Saturday. But we also spent the day at my family</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
property getting it ready for the summer. We took in a big box</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
to hold all our camping equipment, so we don't have</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
to haul it up and down the mountain every time we want to </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
go camping. I took some pictures of some flowers around camp, these are just</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
a few of my favorites.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiosAxbiV4qw6Vl5T7EWfBANEEXqBIMKOZcd7b4X4pW5D7FkcJfS1uvmlLwqM7QjZszFjPRV5WX3oRbNpW7TnmNvBK9l5fc39zr0MGiootS-eQ4tO-u_bTa8QxLParQn1VCHyEiR1e7e_Y/s1600/mosaic412a119e1764da1ba779d357f612db5fc2011b5e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiosAxbiV4qw6Vl5T7EWfBANEEXqBIMKOZcd7b4X4pW5D7FkcJfS1uvmlLwqM7QjZszFjPRV5WX3oRbNpW7TnmNvBK9l5fc39zr0MGiootS-eQ4tO-u_bTa8QxLParQn1VCHyEiR1e7e_Y/s1600/mosaic412a119e1764da1ba779d357f612db5fc2011b5e.jpg" height="135" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As of new changes, I'm wanting to get more things worked on during</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
the day than just one project here and one project there.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I have decided to work on one project for an</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
hour then switch to another the next hour. I have alarms set</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
so I know when to change. I felt like I was able to </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
work on a lot more today. I did get 2 name tags bond. But that was all</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
that got completed. I'm OK with that, because there were several </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
things that got worked on. I feel better. Maybe the hour is not the best time.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I may need to push it to 2 hours, but I'm going to give it one week.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are some pictures of what I did today.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This month has been been pack full with blocks that I feel like they have</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
been coming out my ears. Because of the large amount I will try to give you</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
a better run down of where they all came from. There 166 blocks that</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I can't link you back to because they are to a quilt that is going</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
to the publisher. Plus, it is an exclusive quilt for my </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
grand baby. I'm redesigning it a little to be published, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
because my grandchildren get a one of a kind quilt.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There are 22 blocks that are for my 16-patch quilt. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love them. They help my quilting</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
go so fast.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did 2 Jump Start block for EQ7. You can find the blocks</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://stitchedwithfriends.blogspot.com/2014/05/eq7-jump-start-sew-along-block-1.html" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://stitchedwithfriends.blogspot.com/2014/05/eq7-jump-start-sew-along-block-2.html" target="_blank">here</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been doing Aviatrix quilt along. It started in the middle of May. I have</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
done 64 blocks for this quilt, so far. You can find out about</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
these blocks on <a href="http://stitchedwithfriends.blogspot.com/2014/05/aviatrix.html" target="_blank">this post</a> and <a href="http://stitchedwithfriends.blogspot.com/2014/05/aviatrix.html" target="_blank">this post</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have started doing some wool applique. I wanted something to do</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
while I was sitting waiting at the doctor's office, or I could do at</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
night. I haven't blogged about them yet. This is something I </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
should do this week. I have done 4 blocks. Two of them I sent to a</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
friend that was having a bad month.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That just leaves my Leader & Enders. They came in at 92. They always seem</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
to help jump the count up. Plus I get another quilt done</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
when I am working on one.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the grand total that is 350. How did I do that? I was really surprised.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was really shocked!</div>

Sorry I have been away the past few days, but I </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
have been finishing a big project that I can't show just yet. Plus getting</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
some small receiving blankets hemstitched for </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
my daughter to practice on before I left on my retreat today.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We have been trying to decide who all was coming with me on the</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
retreat. We decided that my husband was coming up with my, but we ran into</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
a sprinkler problem and he came into me covered in mud and said "I think you had better</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
head up by yourself, before you are late." I got up here about 4:30 p.m. Checked into my room</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am up at Snowbird in Alta, UT. It is so beautiful up here. Here is a picture from</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
my room. Then I went and checked in with Handi Quilter.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOAirQzy5jZJVvUqBf1WSFidwBVgfbpcwpHVerHFeIKHyVFGEyDMAYXmP-Qg_1GsB4Kaqpv90fjbeU_P43e8qHgzaEzNyjCG5IM9tX_CKuvdlPX0i6MpOkBBwBgRSjTm7Z9eYmAS4tA54/s1600/DSC_0001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOAirQzy5jZJVvUqBf1WSFidwBVgfbpcwpHVerHFeIKHyVFGEyDMAYXmP-Qg_1GsB4Kaqpv90fjbeU_P43e8qHgzaEzNyjCG5IM9tX_CKuvdlPX0i6MpOkBBwBgRSjTm7Z9eYmAS4tA54/s1600/DSC_0001.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I will spend the next 3 days taking classes from top class quilters. Some of them you have </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
heard of. I will be taking pictures and telling you all about them each day.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have long days ahead. We start with breakfast at 7 and have class and </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
shop hops or banquets until 10 each night. It will be a lot to take in</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I will do my best to show you all the excitement. I got the most awesome welcome package<br />
from Handi Quilter. Here is a picture of everything that came in the bag.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3f6FdzBiEt7_Or8_5dytwewpJ30fvTFuaj6CS0ra6lAIHDXs1rBE1PvnjJhWDiuYCoEx_1uKAIY-N4cu3pt4Vbxt4nZeZlE2w27F5oegZlCVu8Yb3IEb2XKRXmwbx3fivhyWwpqr7oDM/s1600/DSC_0008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3f6FdzBiEt7_Or8_5dytwewpJ30fvTFuaj6CS0ra6lAIHDXs1rBE1PvnjJhWDiuYCoEx_1uKAIY-N4cu3pt4Vbxt4nZeZlE2w27F5oegZlCVu8Yb3IEb2XKRXmwbx3fivhyWwpqr7oDM/s1600/DSC_0008.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Tonight there was a reception where we got to meet several of the other </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
quilters that are taking the classes. There are people from Canada, New Zealand, Australia, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
all over the U.S. I have meet several people from Arizona, California,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Massachusetts and Alabama. To tell you the truth I was a little nervous coming by myself, but</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
all I had to do was start talking and asking questions about what they</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
quilt about.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
One of my favorite educators that started me in longarming is her her name is Marie Eldredge.<br />
She helped me pick out my longarm. I have talked to her several time<br />
over the years. She is an amazing quilter. Check out her info spot on <a href="http://www.handiquilter.com/education/educators/marie/" target="_blank">Handi Quilter</a> and look her<br />
up on the web. She is several places on YouTube and with several quilt magazines.<br />
Here a picture of us been really nice then having fun.<br />
<br />

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I need to introduce you to my favorite batting company <a href="http://www.winlinetextiles.com/" target="_blank">Winline Textiles</a>. I would not use any<br />
other batting. I mostly use their 80/20. But today I bought some bamboo to try on a<br />
quilt for me. She tells me that the bamboo keeps you cool in the summer<br />
and warm in the winter. So I'm going to give it a try. It is<br />
a little more expensive, but boy it feel so nice.<br />
She has a new wool in. She didn't have any here, but I have some on order<br />
I have to decide what quilt I want to do this with,<br />
because this with such a nice wool. So much better than any wool I have ever used before.<br />
She is such a great person to work with. Please give her a try go check out her <a href="http://www.winlinetextiles.com/" target="_blank">website</a>!<br />
Here's a picture of her and I.<br />

I was giving 4 bags fabric a member in my guild. I will take any<br />
fabric that that someone needs to give away. If I can't use it in a quilt,<br />
I find a use for it in other ways. If it is wool I can felt it and use that<br />
for applique. If it is upholstery fabric I can use that for outdoor projects. The<br />
fabrics that just can't be use for projects because they are worn out, I<br />
put them inside a cushion for a dog or cat. If my animals don't<br />
need one I donate them to the shelters. So many animals<br />
are in need of comfort and I love to help.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgz_wQAq0XeyEPwl2hRU7ViwM29CeXBJwodhGvcxKO6Dn3_T0knU0oC6hof7v5ULk8Ei6Mocm6-WBgBF1mMNAQMiexy1R0ELKj50EKF_FvIpYKDX-omqpmeI1ia_O-vRwwcQZwUGlxtNiI/s1600/storage+box.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgz_wQAq0XeyEPwl2hRU7ViwM29CeXBJwodhGvcxKO6Dn3_T0knU0oC6hof7v5ULk8Ei6Mocm6-WBgBF1mMNAQMiexy1R0ELKj50EKF_FvIpYKDX-omqpmeI1ia_O-vRwwcQZwUGlxtNiI/s1600/storage+box.jpg" height="251" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I went to Costco and bought 6 large clear storage boxes (I had several boxes<br />
at home that I could use for some of the other colors right.). I made labels and gathered<br />
additional boxes for all these colors Red, Pink, Purple, Blue, Green, White,<br />
Brown, Black, Yellow, Orange, Gray, Cream. I sat for 2 day with boxes<br />
spread across my family room.<br />
<br />
From each bag a pill of fabric would come I would sort it into a small pill of<br />
fabric by color. Then off they went into the boxes. A couple of colors overflowed<br />
the clear boxes and hand to graduate to bigger ones. That just<br />
means those colors will be a background color in a scrap quilt here soon. But I<br />
do need to organize them more than that.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I saw an idea from <a href="http://www.beaquilter.com/2014/03/a-few-organizing-tips.html" target="_blank">Beaquilter</a> that she sorted these boxes<br />
even further. She put cardboard dividers into her boxes and then<br />
sorted by color value. You could really see the difference. I don't have the time<br />
to sort by value right now. That will have to wait for another day.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAjT-WjLffMKLSBDf88ek81BrCNOsGUkEtvb8onUiJdqzRudhQwOVVzPDXFaJuYA3BEwxhnAXQIqLQvJpsNtZx1gFlL2ur__3iE-CyuEtBDwnRVvenRB8SLcK-q4zhe4gwV0hlivxswgE/s1600/Inside+storage+box.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAjT-WjLffMKLSBDf88ek81BrCNOsGUkEtvb8onUiJdqzRudhQwOVVzPDXFaJuYA3BEwxhnAXQIqLQvJpsNtZx1gFlL2ur__3iE-CyuEtBDwnRVvenRB8SLcK-q4zhe4gwV0hlivxswgE/s1600/Inside+storage+box.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did sort this orange box the other day, because I have been in it a<br />
lot lately. I pulled all the large pieces together on one<br />
end of the box. The other end I put all the scraps together and<br />
the medium size pieces together. I want to iron everything at some<br />
point. That way I can just pull and cut.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE6mZ_-JZ59hukrM027sBZJBkqrmhqj4kestn_YEGI75S5smQpzk673PapEx9zccB3J9vgQk9nMAvVKbLjy56VSlEy74_gsZK86OMG7C9MeRxyXJT4kL6ITdpRI6QsiltJBA2dQ5vbTzk/s1600/Sorting+box.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE6mZ_-JZ59hukrM027sBZJBkqrmhqj4kestn_YEGI75S5smQpzk673PapEx9zccB3J9vgQk9nMAvVKbLjy56VSlEy74_gsZK86OMG7C9MeRxyXJT4kL6ITdpRI6QsiltJBA2dQ5vbTzk/s1600/Sorting+box.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
This is my scrap box. As I'm piecing, I put all my scraps in here<br />
and once a week I sort this box into my big boxes.<br />
I makes it so I can just have a central place to put things<br />
and not have to think about it until the end of week.</div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have so many things to get done this week, so I got this done first thing Monday morning.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">First I pick fabrics from my color tones. I kept one fabric that was the same</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> from my first block.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQQgv89n_0VcmMx7iNQu1e_93JStXJAi8QZLplkt379So38i6bF6S4_WCZOMvNnwyS-ofSzwW3gy4SsOIogNAMpHjk_mVqjo5EMNhzJJ0iFJ7oYMdDQZ_PxE8eRrj_8QahieiofRw1gMM/s1600/DSC_0011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="color: black; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQQgv89n_0VcmMx7iNQu1e_93JStXJAi8QZLplkt379So38i6bF6S4_WCZOMvNnwyS-ofSzwW3gy4SsOIogNAMpHjk_mVqjo5EMNhzJJ0iFJ7oYMdDQZ_PxE8eRrj_8QahieiofRw1gMM/s1600/DSC_0011.jpg" height="241" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I cut out all the pieces needed from each fabric. Then matched up the fabrics</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">for the HST. For these blocks I marked from corner to corner. Then sewed</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">along that line.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMHynn0HwkGXe5ekHn1VG6qlEVJTPTWfX4Q59tikYiE0JygJmNRJO4-bRhdhkG-5T-JVhyKKXOjX4RtELQszu_OOIosdwGTs2MorTHM6_9Jxvh5dEIxXzeQ71EIwZMuQWmK25nyHFjtrs/s1600/DSC_0013.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="color: black; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMHynn0HwkGXe5ekHn1VG6qlEVJTPTWfX4Q59tikYiE0JygJmNRJO4-bRhdhkG-5T-JVhyKKXOjX4RtELQszu_OOIosdwGTs2MorTHM6_9Jxvh5dEIxXzeQ71EIwZMuQWmK25nyHFjtrs/s1600/DSC_0013.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Before I a 1/4" from the seam I made sure I was getting the </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">correct cut. Why? Because I had directional fabric. If you have </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">directional fabric you want to make sure that it is going the </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">correct way, so always check before cut. The old saying</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">"Measure twice cut once."</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Well, I think we need to </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: x-large;"><b>"Look twice and cut once."</b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So here is the final product. For full instructions on this block</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This week was really easy for assembly. That is nice, because I'm working on getting</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> my first quilt together for publishing. I fixed the waves from last week.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I unpicked the HST square border just a little bit from both gray borders.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Then on two of the HST seams I took the seam in just enough to take</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> away the wave. Then I reattached the gray</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">borders.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Because I had a little extra time I did spend some time trimming threads</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> from the back of the quilt also.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">When you go to quilt the quilt you want to make sure there are not</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">any stray threads on the back. They can catch causing threads to break.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Here my finished work for this week.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I have only had EQ7 for 2 years, but that 1st year I never used it. I tried to do the 1st one, but my mind was in another area of life. So I'm going to do this one. Then go right into their one from last year.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So I quickly started followed all their directions which you can find on their blog at</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://doyoueq.com/blog/2014/05/eq7-jump-start-block-1-link-up/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=eq7-jump-start-block-1-link-up" target="_blank">behind the mouse the electronic quilt blog</a>. The quilt along is titled EQ7 Jump Start.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I started playing with colors. I do play with fabrics if I have fabrics close to those that I have installed on my computer. You need to remember that you can download fabrics and also add fabrics from the fabric library. I just wanted to be quick, so I went with colors and pulled from my stash that matched those tones.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhna66Owk88og9uoajCDsTo25TSp-go9jXMEbkzEqTtjI9_HlC60k3MJaUgKjFWnrQHaUxxmr_5F8EF8XkKkhdwzMj6CU-4k2UoO62csFUx2rcpXWe-YyH3oH4p0rliLKzgNfJnag0_4_o/s1600/1400336043369.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhna66Owk88og9uoajCDsTo25TSp-go9jXMEbkzEqTtjI9_HlC60k3MJaUgKjFWnrQHaUxxmr_5F8EF8XkKkhdwzMj6CU-4k2UoO62csFUx2rcpXWe-YyH3oH4p0rliLKzgNfJnag0_4_o/s1600/1400336043369.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These are my fabrics. Yes, I did start sewing before I grabbed a picture. I did it before I got to far though.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpqHD0hZRQvkrmLDvKXTfpJxWLcyfdZqEbJK_zjuXzU8qU2h_OiEhNUi5Bwd4m_9_zCtk5oxPbBrq2hNVSpCC7Iuo1JH_AJsUEuES7cGFlq0GXjzEwj5mY2VyMTp35gu4s9F2sTf8bw6k/s1600/1400336042907.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpqHD0hZRQvkrmLDvKXTfpJxWLcyfdZqEbJK_zjuXzU8qU2h_OiEhNUi5Bwd4m_9_zCtk5oxPbBrq2hNVSpCC7Iuo1JH_AJsUEuES7cGFlq0GXjzEwj5mY2VyMTp35gu4s9F2sTf8bw6k/s1600/1400336042907.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I don't pin to much, but I pin my seams. Why? I like my seams to match. I have tried many ways and have found that if you cross pin it holds the seam together better. The other thing is, you either pull the pin out just before you get to the pin. If you see how I placed my pins you have already sewn those seams together. But this really does not create a speed bump as people have called them.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjt7e3EubHKUZcq5U5nEcq2uIsCy7zKfSQ2hVW8YZj26Ndm8aWoJAn3OFpT7h47seO2RmzuAUW_b4HvzkWuP4iamuiZj7dIP3QNiBEC0Na0f1JlJyIPLi9T4qZ3QM-evwkuK4UtMoYDwI/s1600/1400336043756.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjt7e3EubHKUZcq5U5nEcq2uIsCy7zKfSQ2hVW8YZj26Ndm8aWoJAn3OFpT7h47seO2RmzuAUW_b4HvzkWuP4iamuiZj7dIP3QNiBEC0Na0f1JlJyIPLi9T4qZ3QM-evwkuK4UtMoYDwI/s1600/1400336043756.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
As you can see my seams meet each other. They are really good friends.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My finally product!</div>

</h3>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have done a tutorial for the first time in EQ7. To make sure I was doing everything right I had Bea's website opened. I did mine a little different and since this was my first time I will give you almost every step that I took to get there.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
1. Open EQ7 and select new project. Name your project I named my Hillbilly May. Because we are working with <a href="http://www.hillbillyquiltshop.com/" target="_blank">Hillbilly's <span style="background-color: white; color: #757575; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 20.790000915527344px; text-align: center;">Ahhhh’s</span></a> and this is my May project.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2. Then I went to the Libraries tab. Selected Layout Library. Because I don't wanted the smallest project for my first one I went to the cribs and found the pattern that said Thousand Pyramids. Added it to my sketchbook.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
3. You need to click on the sketchbook and select the pyramid quilt. Now go the layout screen to make the changes needed.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
a. each side 1.5" Because Hillybilly's are 3" on each side (Bea did her's 1.375 because they "look" right. I also did them that way.)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
b. You also need to change the size an Ahhhh design is only 10 wide. She did hers 30 X 24.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I did mine 36 X 28. Here's a picture of what the layout should look like.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiT0r5b8JAriJERQ93TZ4cfBGe939AanDSwJlSp52D8v7rFiRIgVXf42_wZaMJnbON0RvAo7ZNe80JUSpJl22FQNUh5VcVajOMQkKV24qwGYzZXsE38VI1niCdlhdxs1Jz0ltozJENfhoM/s1600/EQ7hillbillymay2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiT0r5b8JAriJERQ93TZ4cfBGe939AanDSwJlSp52D8v7rFiRIgVXf42_wZaMJnbON0RvAo7ZNe80JUSpJl22FQNUh5VcVajOMQkKV24qwGYzZXsE38VI1niCdlhdxs1Jz0ltozJENfhoM/s1600/EQ7hillbillymay2.jpg" height="320" width="159" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUSB8dtk4hKuCT_W70fBDddhF8-ORl3bDAGln4mrS1BMean5olxV_n6wt61y1r03YrXBO-l3NOTTLL4lhX6FwUPCfzfBm1CxRKlkTzjyZqVsgdOkruEaKbrZz87fbutvJuOPVHeBmCffk/s1600/EQ7hillbillymay.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUSB8dtk4hKuCT_W70fBDddhF8-ORl3bDAGln4mrS1BMean5olxV_n6wt61y1r03YrXBO-l3NOTTLL4lhX6FwUPCfzfBm1CxRKlkTzjyZqVsgdOkruEaKbrZz87fbutvJuOPVHeBmCffk/s1600/EQ7hillbillymay.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now comes the fun part. The coloring. I colored mine blue, turquoise and white. I couldn't resist adding a small patch of red in the middle of one flower.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIfCstMQs4r-8ACAF8BczH6CGKyL6EAoikdGvyJX_vNSiVfGsXLyi3PEUmd-omRueuOSMBowzNqh05XJKye2e0qMu7IrsBEbeh3cKjjGFpjYWTY10jt0zGwCVFdCX4tO5_weLKq2YSFjU/s1600/HILLBILLY+MAY.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIfCstMQs4r-8ACAF8BczH6CGKyL6EAoikdGvyJX_vNSiVfGsXLyi3PEUmd-omRueuOSMBowzNqh05XJKye2e0qMu7IrsBEbeh3cKjjGFpjYWTY10jt0zGwCVFdCX4tO5_weLKq2YSFjU/s1600/HILLBILLY+MAY.jpg" height="247" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had never tried the random recoloring tool before. In fact I had to try and find it. You may not know where is is either. If you left click on the right tool bar there is a window that comes up and says add/remove buttons. This is what you need to click on to find it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is what I got when I click on my pattern a few times.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAC5XoIu0rsDgvxBIBZeLow5ppezBOcwOJetYfPufJ2xPPw8IRX4wzWRyz8wuFRZqcL8TWZZUcIRzjUsdDGrSxwGZa1bzk0e0lesZJTHv95GGywPjqU9X8s1LCjX_VjM04_7Ruv7_AS0E/s1600/hILLBILLY2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAC5XoIu0rsDgvxBIBZeLow5ppezBOcwOJetYfPufJ2xPPw8IRX4wzWRyz8wuFRZqcL8TWZZUcIRzjUsdDGrSxwGZa1bzk0e0lesZJTHv95GGywPjqU9X8s1LCjX_VjM04_7Ruv7_AS0E/s1600/hILLBILLY2.jpg" height="246" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had a lot of fun. Give it a try. See what fun pattern Hillbilly has that you can make. They are not very expensive either!</div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I need a small ironing board to use while I was sitting at the couch. So I needed to find a piece of wood. I was walking out of my food storage room and looked down and there was this nice piece of pine. The perfect size. You don't want to use pressed board because when it gets hot it releases toxins from the glue that is used to seal all the wood together. You don't have to use pine, you just need a hard wood.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf6ReikTVeqRHbzfv-YkO6IDuQB5tu3jJPNMIoYUgepIfJS6fMAJdsZupceWdla1sl2Um0NlSqf_dQ2F9jTFEeKhICaJjK1PHLPYdxeLQ1jhfx6utEblS-2JPCYfQIVBiKYfSuxurQ2JM/s1600/mosaic15255127cff857904c3729234485bfadca20c50a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf6ReikTVeqRHbzfv-YkO6IDuQB5tu3jJPNMIoYUgepIfJS6fMAJdsZupceWdla1sl2Um0NlSqf_dQ2F9jTFEeKhICaJjK1PHLPYdxeLQ1jhfx6utEblS-2JPCYfQIVBiKYfSuxurQ2JM/s1600/mosaic15255127cff857904c3729234485bfadca20c50a.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I used some old scraps big enough to cover around to the back. Then I found some old batting that I wasn't going to use in a quilt that was laying around. You don't want it to be to thick so you can have the hardness of the wood to help press.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I cut away the excess batting from the sides so that it would be easier to wrap around the sides. Then I used tacks to attach it in the back. I made sure the corners were secure. it was really easy and has come in handy for a table also. I'm so glad I made it!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Sheet or Not to Sheet?</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That is the question. I have done some research on using sheets. When I first got my long-arm I was short on money but needed to practice. I went out and bought some cheap muslin. And it was cheap. Then I went to the thrift store and bought sheets and used them to practice on. I make quilt sandwiches to practice on. I make sure my tension is OK and practice designs.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are some other reasons why you should not use them:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 - The count in the sheets are so high that it makes them really hard to work with. The weave is stiff.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 - As the needle comes down, the threads are unable move out of the way. Instead, the needle pierces the threads and breaks them. Over time this will create a hole in the quilt. With all the time we put into piecing and quilting our quilts we don't want this to happen.<br />
<br />
For these reasons I have chosen to not use sheets on the backs of my quilts. I will use them to practice with. But something that I am going to spend time to quilt and want to the quilt to last. Therefore I will not use sheets for backing. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have been participating in a Postage Stamp Exchange for 1 1/2" blocks and 2 1/2" blocks. It is a Facebook group. There are 3 different exchanges a year. You can sign up for 1 to 25 sets. Each set contains 100 blocks and cannot contain any repeat fabrics. I signed up for 10 sets of the first exchange of the 1 1/2" blocks and have just received my blocks. I am now over the 1 1/2" blocks exchanges. I would love to have more people get involved in the exchange.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">These are all the blocks that I received for the March Exchange.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This is what I do with my block when I receive them. I sort them by colors. Not every batch is the same, because I don't always get turquoise or black.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have designed a few blocks to help people see some fun ways to use these blocks. I will give a few tutorials in a week are two. But for now enjoy these pictures. The biggest thing that I have learned with scrap quilts is use opposites. Like a dark than a light next to each other. This really helps the patterns form if that is what you are trying to get.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">April was a slow month for putting blocks together.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I spent a lot of time on the computer getting the business put together. There were some blocks that I did get put together. So here is the count.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I started doing some blocks that were posted on <a href="http://www.patchworkposse.com/" target="_blank">Patchwork Posse</a>'s blog. They host 12 bloggers that design blocks for a quilt. They have a new block each week. I really liked the blocks, so I joined in. I have some catch-up to do. I will get these finished this summer. But I got 6 blocks finished. That's one 6 that I need to do to get the quilt finished.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I did 5 blocks for my guild's mystery quilt. Then I finished 5 for the Kaffe class that I'm taking. I started a wool applique BOM. I finished 1 block there. Then I have my wonderful leader enders, where I finished 96.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I worked on my list of things I need to finish
this year or work on this year. I tried to put the BOM's together. The things that need to be bond together and everything else in priority. Now things can change if I get a customer quilt in to quilt. I'm mostly designing quilts and trying to publish them.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have needed to
write these down for awhile. I have told
myself I cannot add anything else to the list.
I have taken on some big projects also.
I am quilting for a friend that gathers quilts for cancer patients. I am also quilting one quilt a month for
Quilts of Valor.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span class="tag"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">Because
my family is getting smaller, we had a very quiet weekend. I
was able to spend some time getting things completed. Thursday and Friday
I didn't feel very good and was in a lot of pain. I have been given the
blessings of having Hashimoto's and Fibromyalgia. Plus a back that
is degenerating and has 4 discs that are either bulging or herniated in
different areas of my spine. But I just push myself, stay positive
that way I only have 2 or 3 bad days a month. Two years ago I was having
4 days a week that were bad. Finding things that I truly love to do has
really helped.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Plus I have found some
groups that I enjoy belonging to.<o:p></o:p></span></span></span></div>
<span class="tag" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">
</span><br />
<div align="center" style="text-align: center;">
<span class="tag"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">So what
did I do?<o:p></o:p></span></span></span></div>
<span class="tag"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">
</span></span><br />
<span class="tag"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">
</span></span><br />
<div align="center" style="text-align: center;">
<span class="tag"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I
finished the commissioned top that I was hired to complete. This is also
a quilt for my mother. I decided that I wasn't going to push and make
mistakes to get it entered into the HMQS show. Maybe I'll put it in the
county fair. I’m also entering it into the Small Town Quilt Show in
Midway, UT.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I want the quilt to be
right. It will be going on the long-arm tomorrow. Here is a picture
of the top. It turned out great!</span></span></div>

<span class="tag">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">
</span></span><div align="center" style="text-align: center;">
<span class="tag"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">
</span></span></div>
<span class="tag">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">
</span><div align="center" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">
I
also worked on my guild 3D mystery blocks. There are several layers
within theses blocks. I am not sure that I really like doing these, but I
will finish the quilt to say I learned something. Learning something new
is always a good thing. One thing I learned is that open seams are
not always a good idea. The layers make it really difficult to press and
they have a mind of their own. When a seam is not pressed it will cause problems
when you go to quilt it. They say not to press 3D blocks, because you
loose the 3D effect, but I don’t feel I have lost the look. It
also keeps the fabric from moving as you are sewing the blocks
together. So here are the blocks that I worked on.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">
</span><div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"></span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">It has been a lot of work. I also spent a lot of time on the computer working on some new programs. We are redesign the blog so look for that in the coming future. My husband is doing most of the work there, and only can work on it on the weekends.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">UPDATE! This block won the week contest!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">So I worked hard on this block. I really learned how to get my points right. It wasn't easy. Lots of half square triangles. Which I have a lot of. So this will be great to use for.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I started with the red fabric and pulled the others together. I only went with 4 fabrics. I just couldn't find another pink and orange that would work with this. I decided to put a red square in the center to help balance the whole square. I really like this square. I don't know if I l would like a whole quilt with these colors. But I think a quilt using this block several time in different colors could really be fun.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I love half square triangles so I think I will use the star block a lot.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">
</span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">
</span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"></span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I have always wanted to try wool, so I thought this would be a great chance to try it out. I drew pieces for a flower on freezer paper. Then put it on the color of wool I wanted to use. I cut out the shapes. I places these pieces on a Lite Heat and Bond. Just enough to hold it on the wool so I could sew it on. Then I ironed it onto the yellow in the pattern I wanted it. Anything that would be laying on top of something I waited to put that on until I had sewn the bottom pieces on.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">
I picked out colors of thread that matched the wool. Then I just straight stitched everything on. Then stitched the yellow piece a blue piece of wool. I put that with right sides together and sewed a 1/2" seam. Turned it right side out.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I filled it with crushed walnuts. I have done a lot of reading on how to sharpen pins and you need to have pincushions filled with crushed walnuts to sharpen them. So I purchased this at Petco for $8.00. I only used about a cup. This will go a long way. But with my long arming pinning and all the sewing I need to keep my pins sharp.</span></div>

So here is the finished pincushion for Karyn. I am also sending her so fun pins that I have made. I hope that she likes them. I enjoy making them. I think I have found a new relaxing thing to do in the evenings. I will make some pincushions and pins that I can give away to others. Plus have for this exchange.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I have had so much on my mind that I have had a difficult time sleeping the last week. So I have spent my nights sewing and reading blogs. Friday was my Kaffe and Friend class. In class we got 5 more block to do for the month of April. So that will keep me busy this month. I am working on the Patchwork Posse Around Robin Blocks. I get a new one each week. I have a BOM for my guild. I hadn't gone to January's or February meeting so I had to get those blocks done also. I also had a block for the Guild quilt to get done. Plus I'm trying to get a quilt ready for the quilt show. The deadline was April 11th, but the just extended it to the 20th. That really helped. So that is what I have been doing ever since Wednesday last week. So let look at the projects.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Now you need to go over to </span><a href="http://emsscrapbag.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Em's Scarpbag</span></a><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"> and vote for me in the upper right hand corner so that I can win fat 1/8 pack of 30's fabric. I have fallen in love with the 30's fabric. I want to make a mini quilt for the wall in front of my sewing machine where a picture from my grandfather hangs now. That will only move higher, because my ancestors are my inspiration for quilting. On to the tutorial.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I would search and I kept coming back to flour sack dolls. My daughter had a hankie doll when she was little and I thought that if I used the sack front to make a cute skirt for the doll it would work out great.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Here are some pictures and steps to make the doll. I can see flour sack coming in my future to make more dolls. They are very easy and a lot of fun. All of my supplies were taken right from my home.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"></span> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I took some leftover batting and stuffed it in an 8" square piece of muslin. I tied it off with a piece of ribbon. I squished it around until it became what I thought would look like a head.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"> </span></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I cut the bag into two pieces the front and back. The back I use to shape the body. I rounded the corners on both sides. The back I left unfinished. I put the head in the top and middle of the backing. Then took a blue ribbon and tied that around the head and flour sack to make it as one. Then tied a small piece of ribbon on the right and left sides to make the arms.</span></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"> </span></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">On the front I rounded the corners. Then I rolled hemmed the edges. It gave it such a nice finish edge to the flour sack. Then I sewed a 2 1/2" wide lace, that I had, around the edge. It gave the feel of a skirt. Then I folded the top down about an 1" to make a tube for the ribbon to pass through. I tied the ribbon in a bow in the back.</span></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"> </span></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I also sewed a piece of lace over the head to look like a bonnet. It was very easy. I had it complete finished in 2 hours. I would love to make more of these. I had everything on had. The ribbons all matched the colors in flour sack, so it was very fun.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Well, I have my first grandbaby coming. My daughter wanted to go through the blankets and take what was hers. As we went through them we came across the first quilt I had ever made. I couldn't believe what great condition the quilt was in. There was only one problem. There was no batting. The batting that I had used had completely disappeared. I was really surprised. I also had no mitered corners.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I made this quilt for my first daughter. I was taught by my aunt. She help me decide on the pattern, it was a log cabin pattern. Then took me shopping for the fabric. I came up to her house, where she helped me cut out the fabric and showed me how to put the quilt together. But by the time it came to quilt it and bind it I had put the quilt aside and many years had passed. She had gone other ways and so had I. I should have stayed the task and finished the entire quilt with her.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Boy I have learned a lot over the years. There is definitely reasons why you need to use quality batting and use correct methods of sewing. Take the time to learn from others. Also learn how to correctly fold quilts so that you don't have permanent folds in your quilts.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I love this project group, because I can see that I am getting things accomplished. I have been working on putting quilts together this month. I always have a leader ender project that I am working on. That way I have sewing that helps keep my block count going. This is my total count this month is 187. My daughter started a quilt also this month. I have instructed her, I have shown her on scraps how to sew what she needed to sew. Because this quilt has to be all done by herself. She has cut out, and sewn 506 block so far. I'm so proud of her. I can't wait to see how this turns out.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Where my blocks come out to are: 50 for my mom's quilt, 2 for my guild, 9 for a class I'm taking, 111 for leader enders.</span></div>

It is taught by Kaye Evans who just happens to be my aunt. She has taught this class for several years. We make blocks using Kaffe Fassett fabric along with other designers' such as Amy Bulter, Phillip Jacobs, Lonni Rossi, and Brandon Mabley. I have pulled from my fabric stash to finish the block also.<br />
<br />
Once the blocks are done they are put together into a quilt and display at the HMQS show in Salt Lake City, UT. I have gone for the last 3 years and admired these quilts. Now I have been able to take her class. I have really enjoyed learning from her. She has so much knowledge. I am grateful to call her my aunt.<br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I got a customer quilt in that is a baby quilt. The quilt is a modern quilt. It has appliqued circles on a white back ground with squares as the borders. I decided to echo the circles inside. Then did circles in the corners and in the middle of the white. On the block I did orange peels. The back was a minky. Minky can be difficult if not cut right or put on the longarm correctly. You need to make sure that you give plenty of extra backing. You cannot cut the backing to be the same size as the front. It will always come up short when it is finished. Minky stretches, but you don't want it to.</span></div>
