Kaffe Class

I have been taking a class called Kaffe and Friends at My Heritage Fabric.  It is taught by Kaye Evans who just happens to be my aunt.  She has taught this class for several years.  We make blocks using Kaffe Fassett fabric along with other designers' such as Amy Bulter, Phillip Jacobs, Lonni Rossi, and Brandon Mabley.  I have pulled from my fabric stash to finish the block also.

Once the blocks are done they are put together into a quilt and display at the HMQS show in Salt Lake City, UT.  I have gone for the last 3 years and admired these quilts.  Now I have been able to take her class.  I have really enjoyed learning from her.  She has so much knowledge.  I am grateful to call her my aunt.

Here are my block for the last few months.

Purple Circles

I got a customer quilt in that is a baby quilt.  The quilt is a modern quilt.  It has appliqued circles on a white back ground with squares as the borders.  I decided to echo the circles inside.  Then did circles in the corners and in the middle of the white.  On the block I did orange peels.  The back was a minky.  Minky can be difficult if not cut right or put on the longarm correctly.  You need to make sure that you give plenty of extra backing.  You cannot cut the backing to be the same size as the front.  It will always come up short when it is finished.  Minky stretches, but you don't want it to.
